Kayak Fishing Joppa Flats






Joppa flats is located in the mouth of the merrimack river. the fishing is incredible at times. you have to launch and be off the water within 3 hours +/- high tide or you will be dragging your kayak through the mud.. Anybody here ever kayak joppa flats/ plum island area? i've read everywhere that the fishing is epic, but i've always been skunked. i would appreciate any an.... Deeper flats (8-12 feet at high tide), like the joppa flats in newburyport and those along the bay side of the cape, are better for sight-fishing on the early stages of the rising tide and latter stages of the ebb..

Joppa flat is a perennial striper destination that comes alive with fish in june. from the end of may through june, stripers will be present in many locations throughout the merrimack river estuary, from the flats and all the way upstream to the great stone dam in lawrence..
