The frame has a perimeter about 2.5 inches tall and made of 3 strips of 1/4 marine fir plywood epoxied together with 7 radiata pine cross pieces every 2 feet. i'll be using 1/4 inch plywood for the skin of the roof, but i'm not sure what type of plywood wood be best.. Does anyone have a source for 1/4 inch green treated plywood in the twin cities area? i’m looking for places that have it in stock. i got a blank stare at menards and home depot. my boats sit outside 24/7 and are in the water for days on end. i trust my life with it. ymmv. eelpoutguy. participant. farmington, outing.. Marine plywood is easier to work with, especially when bending, and finishing. for small boats, quality 4 mm plywood is a good substitute for the ¼ inch exterior ply often specified. marine plywood (except for fir) will not check. that feature may by itself pay for the difference in cost..

Before the advent of pressed wood underlayment we used to use 1/4"- 5 ply plwood that had wateproof glue. i have not been able to find 5 ply but have found a 3 ply being used for underlayment. it is an a/c/x grade with both faces being solid and no voids in the middle ply. the x denotes exterior glue so that would be a resourcenol glue..
