Re: maxum vs. bayliner it is true that the condition of the boat is more important than the name. i own a maxum and it is a great boat, the maxum will have some better quality parts and more features than the bayliner.. I was getting some minor fiberglass work done on my boat and a newer (i'm guessing 5-8 years old, definitely less than 10) crownline was in the shop. i asked him what was wrong with it, and he said build quality sucked and all the stringers were shot. plus their boats are usually dark colored and whenever i see them on the lake they look chalky.. Boat man. seem to be similar. start w/ a basic model and then add on for luxury options. the higher quality boat manf. have very solid hulls, piano hinges on doors, thick insulation around the stringers. stand on various parts of any boat and bounce up a down, the better boats will deflect less or hopefully not at all..
